History of Adisankara (written by Kandappa Kottai Siddhar Ealanampattiyaar U.Ramasami Pillai, descendant of Karuwooraar Family.) ‘Adisankarar’ was not given to him with the meaning that he was the first Sankara. Aadhi Sivan, Adhi Sankaran, Adhi Paramasivan, Adhi Vedhan, Adhi Naathan … are all commmon names existing in south Tamilnadu.

    A few short notes on Adisankara’s life: Kaladi Adisankara was in Kasi when Santhanam from Karur came to join him as disciple. This Santhanam hails from Siddhar Kaakkaiyar Velaalar family of Tamilnadu. Adisankara accepted Santhanam as his foremost disciple seeing his Tamil Scholarship and extensive knowledge in Indhuism lliterature.
