A few passages on Kaladi Adisankarar from Thirumaalikai Thevar’s Gurupaarampariyam:

(Thirumaalikai Thevar was the only son of Karuvur Thevar. His written works can be found in the book “Panniru Thirumurai”. Karuvur Thevar was the only son of His Holiness Siddhar Kaaviriyaatrangarai Karuwooraar, the 11th Pathinensiddhar Peedaathipathi. Thirumaalikai Thevar lived in 11th and 12th centuries. This original Tamil article was written during that period.)

“… My grandfather His Holiness the 11th Pathinensiddhar Peedaathipathi identified about the birth of Adisankaran in Kaladi through the analysis of Astronomy - Astrology. The Astrological science also gave the following information about Adisankaran as re-birth of Sirkazhi Thirugnaanasambandar; significant birth in Sivachaariyaar family heredity; representative birth of Devakumaran; Aadhisivanaar’s son Murugan’s divine incarnation…. Using these information His Holiness the 11th Peedaathipathi went many times to Kaladi at appropriate times and gave Adisankaran in a fit manner the divine power, divine advices, divine invocations, required divine verses and divine prayer methods. Because of these, Adisankaran elevated himself to different stages such as Aachaariyaar, Manthareeka Valli, Thaanthareeka Sithiyaalan. Adisankaran also learnt Sanskrit language in order to teach the true Indhuism or Saivism to the brahmins who were foreigners to India. He wore white dress only and grew long hair tied upwards on the head as a tuft. Adisankaran also travelled extensively from South Kumari point to North Himalayas mainly to correct the Brahmins in North India. These Brahmins of North India were confusing everyone in the field of religion with their wild-imaginations, vague theories and useless ceremonies. With the sole purpose of correcting the dominations of these Brahmins, Adisankaran worked very hard in North India.

But these cunning Brahmins used the name of Adisankaran and his works only to twist them to their favour. The Brahmins succeeded in making everyone believe that Adisankara was a Brahmin wearing ochre robe with clean-shaven head and a non-Tamilian. Further the Brahmins spread a lot of lies about his life designating him as re-incarnation of Lord Siva.

For a stretch of Four Yugas the Pathinensiddhars founded a lot of religious institutions known as madams or Mutts. Out of these numerous madams, Adisankaran rejuvenated only four namely Sringeri, Puri, Dwarakai and Padrinath. But the Brahmins twisted this history by saying that these Four Madams were founded by Adisankaran for Sanskritised Hinduism. The Tamils also accepted this cheating without doubting or questioning. Beyond all these, the Tamils have accepted the Madaathipathis or Mutt heads of these four Mutts as their Gurus. The Tamils could not even remember or think of the simple fact that only a Tamilian can be the Guru of the Tamils. My Grandfather and My Father put in a lot of efforts to correct this pitiable and sad state of Tamils but in vain. Their great efforts could not correct the Tamils even to a smaller extent.

Even during my Grand Father’s time itself, the Tamils had given a high Acharya state and Guru position to these four brahmin Madaathipathis who were the followers of my Grandfather’s disciple, i.e. non-brahmin Tamilian Adisankaran. The Tamils had completely lost the feeling that only a Tamilian could be the Acharya or Guru of the Tamils.

These brahmins living in the entire India, in a planned manner collectively without any differences like educated or uneducated, monk or family-man, elder or younger, male or female advertised with high priase for the Madaathipathis of the four Mutts (namely Sringeri, Puri, Dwaraka, Padrinath) as Shankaracharya or Adisankaracharya or Peedaathipathi or Sannidhaanam. Due to this illusory beliefs, cunning plots, lies created by North Aryans the Tamils forgot completely their own Pathinensiddhar Peedaathipathis, Thamibiraans, Pandaarams, Gurudevars, Pandaara Sannithis, heirs to Lord Siva who have all been existing through the Four Yugas.

That too, in the period of His Holiness the 11th pathinensiddhar Peedaathipathi, Gurumahaasannidhaanam, Gnaalaguru Siddhar Kaaviriyaatrangarai Karuwooraar who achieved majestic divine status in the history of this earth; the Tamils had accepted and revered these four brahmin Madaathipathis as their Gurupeedams, Achaaryas, Heads, or Peedaathipathis. That is to say, when the real Gurumahaasannidhaanam of the Tamils was living as a great Guru or Teacher due to His great achievements in the divine world; the majority of ordinary Tamils started believing the lies spread by Brahmins and accepted these North Aryanism heads as their own Gurupeedams. These North Aryan heads were none other than the followers of the disciple of Adisankara who himself was the Tamilian disciple trained by my Grand Father.

All the brahmins who lived inside the Indian subcontinent gathered at many places and collected money either as donations or through begging in order to bring these four madaathipathis to different places and conduct grand events to make everyone believe that these brahmin heads were true religious heads. This made all non-brahmins wrongly believe that these Madaathipathis were real heads of religion.

In a herd of goats, all the goats would blindly jump or turn or follow the first goat without any thinking. Just like that, almost all the Tamils followed blindly these brahmins and started respecting and revering these newly elevated Brahmin religious heads.

The Tamils started believing without any doubt that these brahmins or foreigners to Indian soil were the India’s religious roots. Further the Tamils blindly accepted these four Madaathipathis as the religious heads or Gurus of the Induism which was created by the Pathinensiddhars.

This great turn of events in the history of the Tamils became the root cause of continuing downfall of the Tamils….”
